The Launch of Our Men's Residential Program
Adult & Teen Challenge Northeastern Wisconsin (ATCNEW) was initiated by a few Christian Green Bay locals who noticed the enormous lives lost over the past several years due to the substance abuse epidemic in the surrounding counties revolving around Green Bay. Driven by compassion, these locals devoted themselves to providing a viable solution to help alleviate this problem. The group formed a steering committee in 2018 and developed a strategic plan to launch an Adult & Teen Challenge program in the Green Bay area. In 2019, the committee obtained its 501c3 non-profit status. In early 2020, ATCNEW received approval and affiliation certification from the National Office of Adult & Teen Challenge in Ozark, Missouri. Next, the committee raised funds to cover its initial operational costs to bring on its first employee, the Executive Director, to help structure, launch, and lead the men's program. In the fall of 2020, Vaushawn Johnson assumed the organization's Executive Director role. Collectively, Vaushawn brings over a decade of experience working with Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge and the Prison Fellowship Organization. In addition, Vaushawn helped establish the ATCNEW board of directors in early 2021. He and the board of directors have been working adamantly to raise funds and obtain a property to urgently launch the men's residential program.
